Luxury golf in Edinburgh
On a prestigious site on St Andrew Square in the heart of Edinburgh, Cheval The Edinburgh Grand consists of 50 luxuriously appointed apartments available to book for any length of stay. Situated in a former bank headquarters, many of the building’s original features have been carefully restored, especially in some of the signature apartments.

Accommodation

The one-bedroom Directors’ Suite was once the bank’s boardroom, with some quirky features, a standalone bath and a 10-person dining table, ideal for hosting. On the 7th floor the three-bedroom penthouse has unmissable panoramic views of Edinburgh and can host drink receptions or just an intimate dinner for your party.

Regardless of which apartment you choose (none is exactly alike), every suite is equipped with a fully fitted kitchen, luxurious bathrooms and separate living and dining spaces.

Dining

Your own kitchen gives you the flexibility to make your own meals or order in should you choose, however on the 4th floor you will find The Register Club, open for breakfast, afternoon tea and evening drinks. A menu of light dishes is also available. On the ground floor sits Hawksmoor Restaurant, serving high quality steak and seafood dishes in the bank’s former reception hall.

Work out

In what was once the bank’s secure vaults is CaveFit, a fitness facility with all the equipment you could ever desire. Individual personal training sessions can easily be arranged.

The historic Bruntsfield Links Golfing Society traces its root back to 1761. They moved to their current site - on the western edge of Edinburgh in 1898 when the course was laid out by Willie Park Jnr., one of the founders of golf course architecture. The course has since has since been remodelled by Dr Alistair Mackenzie (1922), James Braid (1930) and Fred Hawtree (1974).

Day 3

With a history as long and rich as most countries, Muirfield is truly one of the world's finest golf courses.  On March 7th 1744 the Edinburgh Town Council presented a silver club for annual competition by 'The Gentleman Golfers'.  In doing so they required that 'proper regulations' governing conditions of play, be written and the thirteen Rules of Play were duly produced.  As a result, The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers was created.  The rest, as they say is history, and with Open champions ranging from James Braid (1901 and 1906) through to Gary Player (1959) and Jack Nicklaus (1966) to Ernie Els (2002) and Phil Mickelson (2013) each step here is taken in the footprints of great champions.

Day 4

The Royal Burgess Golfing Society is widely recognised as the oldest golf club in the world.  In many ways that should be enough to endear the club to visiting golfers but the course itself is of the very highest standard.  For the historian though, the club have taken great care in preserving that illustrious history and it literally drips from the walls of the clubhouse.
